This house enjoys a truly wonderful site, in a wind-protected canyon. The softly, sweeping, curved walls and forms, focus the views to the La Plata’s in the distance. The clean simple lines of the contemporary wood members offset the rough capped stone walls, reminiscent of the many Anasazi ruins found in the area. As with most homes in the Colorado Mountains, the environment encourages an open, covered outdoor living room. This project meets LEED Gold standards and the home incorporates numerous reclaimed and/or recycled materials. Placing the stair along the south-facing glass wall provides direct natural daylight to the lower level of the home.
